The Art of Belonging:
A Meditation Retreat with Chelsea Green
July 23 - 25th, 2021
An immersive weekend meditation retreat at the hyper-local 160-acre Well Being Retreat Center in the beautiful untouched mountains of Northeast TN.
This workshop will consist of educational and experiential activities such as mindfulness, meditation, and other embodied practices such as gentle yoga, guided drawing, and Family Constellation exercises.
“Any spiritual practice that draws our energy and attention upward without equally focusing downward is inherently ungrounded and will make us out of balance.”
- Jessica Moore
As a systems-based therapist and meditation teacher, I use tools like mindfulness and Family Constellations to meet those I work with right where they are, and to also provide space for something new to arise.
"I see Constellation work as being a kind of time travel. We begin where we are, with what is happening right now. Then we travel back in time to the people and places that seem to influence the present. And we travel back even further sometimes to find resources in the very same lineage – those who are at peace, those who can be called upon to support. Then we may look ahead too. What is the legacy for a child or children or descendants when we reconcile our difficulties?
What is their inheritance if we don’t?”
- Suzi Tucker
The term 'constellation' arises from the way these sessions look from a distance. Although the other workshop attendees are often strangers, they can be chosen by the client to stand and temporarily represent their parent, sibling, grandparent, significant other, boss at work, or themselves. The focus of constellations are to get the participant in touch with the resources they need to create the change they want in their own life.
This weekend retreat experience will explore some of the following questions:
-
Do you feel like you have to get rid of negativity in order to be “good" or "spiritual”? If yes, how might this belief be denying or bypassing your lived experience, or the experience of others?
-
How can we ground ourselves in reality with a regular meditation/mindfulness practice? What are the barriers to this practice?
-
How can we connect to our roots through nature, embodiment practices, and honoring ancestors? What can we learn once we re-connect?
Check in will be 4 to 5:30 pm on Friday July 23rd and the retreat will end by 2 p.m. on Sunday July 25th. Meals will be non-vegetarian, with a vegetarian option at each meal, and are generally gluten-free.
